Gitmo: The Truth

June 5, 2011

Coming to a town near you? Are we next?

All of the Gitmo detainees are terrorists!  How do we know that?   Donald Rumsfeld called it the worst of the worse and that sounds spooky, plus, mainstream news pundits trumpet this sentiment.  Here’s the truth:  The Sunday Times reported on April 9, 2010 that they had received a document revealing George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld had covered up their knowledge that hundreds of innocent men were sent to the Guantanamo Bay prison camp because they feared releasing them would harm the push for war in Iraq and the broader war on terror.

Times Online Article

Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson who was Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff when he ran the State Department claimed the former Vice-President and Defense Secretary knew that most of the original 742 detainees sent to Guantanamo in 2002 were innocent but believed it was “politically impossible to release them.”  Wilkerson stated that a majority of the prisoners had been turned over by Afghans and Pakistanis for up to $5000 each, with little to no evidence.

Gitmo lawyer: “These courts were not about justice” – shocking torture methods

In addition to using torture, recent documents reveal systematic drug testing on inmates with mefloquine, up to 5 times the recommended dose. The anti-malaria drug is known for its extreme side effects and was also used in the MK Ultra mind-control program.  Furthermore, the NY Times reported on 7-8-08 trainers at Guantanamo used a chart that was copied from a 1957 Chinese Communist chart.  It outlined torture methods used against American prisoners during the Korean War to coerce confessions, many of them false.  This became the basis for Gitmo and CIA interrogations.

The establishment wants nothing of fair trials for these “detainees” because the US will be indicted as criminals after the testimonies stream forth.  With all the theatrics and fear-mongering over New York trials that are never intended to happen, Americans who decry due process for Gitmo inmates  are sealing our fate to lose our birthright of due process and proper justice.
